Portsmouth's finances are so dire that the former Premier League club may go out of business before the current season ends in May - and that could have major repercussions for clubs at both ends of the Championship table.

The south coast club are already in the relegation zone, after having 10 points deducted for entering bankruptcy protection last month - the second time in two years.
Club administrator Trevor Birch has revealed unsecured loans that former owner Sacha Gaydamak is receiving payments that would ordinarily go directly to the club and that there is "a real possibility that we may not be able to fulfill the season's fixtures."
If they are unable to find funds to bankroll the remainder of the season, Pompey's name will cease to appear in the Championship bad credit loans standings and therefore points taken from them by opponents during the season will be expunged.
This could see previously safe clubs dropping down the table as points won against Portsmouth are wiped out, while teams challenging for the title and play-offs will also be affected.
Reading would jump to second into the automatic promotion spots, above West Ham, but Cardiff would drop out of the play-off positions.
